Jonatan Bäckelie, aka <a href="http://jonatan.blog.com/" target="_blank">Ernesto</a>, is a 27-year old Swedish soul singer from Gothenburg. <em>Bassline</em> is the first track to be released from Ernesto&#8217;s forthcoming album <em>Ernesto Sings</em> due for release later this year.</p>
<p><em>Bassline</em> began as a 110 bpm sexy soulful house groove good for shiny people in slinky clothes drinking mojitos. Given Waveplant is based in Chicago (a long time mecca of house music) as a composer and sound designer, we can understand how the two of them would enjoy a collaboration. Listen to the original on the streaming player below courtesy of <a href="http://soundcloud.com/exceptionalrecords">Exceptional Records on SoundCloud</a>.</p>
<div style="font-size: 11px;"><object width="400" height="83" data="http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?track=ernesto-bassline-out-june-29th&amp;show_comments=false&amp;auto_play=false&amp;color=58ac20" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?track=ernesto-bassline-out-june-29th&amp;show_comments=false&amp;auto_play=false&amp;color=58ac20" /></object></div>
<p>Chad North and Aaron Pope were brought into the project because of Joel (Waveplant) and Chad&#8217;s prior work together. Chad had remixed Joel&#8217;s <em>Get With You</em> and Joel remixed the Chad and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RRHS8I?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=junroa-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B000RRHS8I">Jennifer Paige</a><img style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=junroa-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B000RRHS8I" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" /> track <em>100 Ways</em>. <em>Bassline</em> was featured on <a href="http://www.nuskoolbreaks.co.uk/" target="_blank">NuSkoolBreaks</a> as the first track in a recent unsigned showcase (which has launched more than one producer&#8217;s career). Have a listen to their remix on our streaming player.</p>
<p>Chad and Aaron have a decidedly different take on this track; the third release of theirs in June. Its a solid funky breakbeat track with glitched out vocals, choppy beats, and a background hint of retro vocoder effects. Think more prime time Stanton Warrior-esque in a crowded room of heated sexy people pulsing to the beat. From some San Francisco trusted hands, its been getting props from DJs and fans alike.</p>
<p>Get <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?i=318081348&amp;id=318081342&amp;s=143441" target="_blank">(I Need A) Bassline</a> at iTunes and soon at other locations.</p>
