Bassline began as a 110 bpm sexy soulful house groove good for shiny people in slinky clothes drinking mojitos. Given Waveplant is based in Chicago (a long time mecca of house music) as a composer and sound designer, we can understand how the two of them would enjoy a collaboration. Chad North and Aaron Pope were brought into the project because of Joel (Waveplant) and Chad’s prior work together. Chad had remixed Joel’s Get With You and Joel remixed the Chad and Jennifer Paige track 100 Ways. Bassline was featured on NuSkoolBreaks as the first track in a recent unsigned showcase (which has launched more than one producer’s career). Have a listen to their remix on our streaming player.

Chad and Aaron have a decidedly different take on this track; the third release of theirs in June. Its a solid funky breakbeat track with glitched out vocals, choppy beats, and a background hint of retro vocoder effects. Think more prime time Stanton Warrior-esque in a crowded room of heated sexy people pulsing to the beat. From some San Francisco trusted hands, its been getting props from DJs and fans alike.

This second Jungo Road mix by Chad comes on the heels of an very exciting month of releases on Erase and Exceptional.

June 1st saw the release of The Grind which climbed the Beatport breaks chart immediately; peaking at #20 and then staying steady in the top 25. The Grind, and it’s accompanying b-side You Got What, has received support from:

Just this week, Erase released the first remix package for The Grind including stellar mixes by Scott Cooper and Wasabi. The second remix single, a take on You Got What will be from acclaimed producer Mike Hulme (aka Introspective). Then on June 29th, Chad & Aaron’s remix of Ernesto’s Bassline on UK uber-label Exceptional Records releases. Bassline was produced by Waveplant, remixed by dynamic duo Chad North vs Aaron Pope, and expertly mastered by Exceptional Records to be available on both digital download and CD single (compact disc, for those who forgot about this format).
