RAYDEUS (Pronoia SF, Raydeus.com, SFO)

RaydeusIn a city known for it’s top notch electronic music scene and overabundance of rockstar DJs, it is difficult to stand apart from the crowd in San Francisco. By the time 11am rolls around it could be just about anyone pounding out the beats at The End Up. By Sunday afternoon at Burning Man, when you’re sure you’ve heard just about every international DJ in the world, along comes one DJ who just gives a little *more*. Whether it is his consistently banging tracks, upfront material, or the technical prowess in his mixing, Raydeus has stood out from the rest in the San Francisco DJ scene.

While I only lived in SF for two years, and it could be seen as arrogant for me to make such a claim, I think Raydeus may be among the best tech-funk DJs in the mecca of US dance music. Packed into those two years, I spent many-a-nights jumping from party to party and hearing a wide sampling from the best DJs in a myriad of crews, clubs, undergrounds, and renegades. No one quite did it like Raydeus. His mixsets are on par with the best in the game.

That’s why Jungo Road is proud to include him as one of it’s key contributors. This second mix of his is the proof in the pudding. Just listen and attempt to stand still where you are at; or not speed in your car. Raydeus may be modest. But, one listen to any of the dozens of mixes available on his site and you’ll see the truth of the matter. He is one evil dude.

[Mix notes: This was recorded old-school style with a Pioneer DJM-700 mixer and two CDJ-800s without use of "Master Tempo".]

Those in the Bay Area can catch Raydeus July 12 at the GuerillaBASS Happy Hour @ Triple Crown (1760 Market St, SF) and July 18 at AggRegaTe @ Space Gallery (1141 Polk St, SF).
